Tarping on Ben Shee

So I had a wander on my local hills (the Ochil Hills) on Saturday afternoon. By 7 pm I found myself on the side of Ben Shee, a small and boring hill that looks down Glen Eagles. I thought it would be worth camping on, but I was not sure what the view would be. It was very windy on the top so I constructed my camp around a crag on the sheltered side of the hill. I was faffing about realising that the sun was at its most golden, but it was cold and I wanted to get everything set up so that I could concentrate on the sunset. Once I got the tarp sorted, I took a quick picture of my hillside camp with my phone on HDR mode. Then I got busy unpacking and setting up my bedding etc.

After all that the golden hour was over and the sunset was a bit of a damp squib as it set into a growing bank of cloud, my tripod wasn't settling either on the very spongy ground... So it turned out that the best image of my trip was of my campsite! Even if I had got nothing, I still enjoyed it 🙂

A lovely shot Chris, all credit with the phone, I often switch to HDR mode on mine to give a little more colour depth and vibrancy. A cool setup with the tarp giving you a wonderful first light view down the valley!

Thanks very much for sharing Chris 😀

From the Nikon D3200 to the Nikon D7100 to currently the Fujifilm X-T2, loved them all...
