Fujifilm X-T6

Over the last few years, I have taken thousands of shots with my trusty Fujifilm X-T3. The camera has become like an extension of my right arm. I consider buying another only when a camera starts holding me back slightly.

What I class as holding me back is my X-T3 having no IBIS (In-body image stabilisation); it has been no big deal, but 2025 Fuji lenses have started coming out without image stabilisation built-in. Fuji thinks you already have an IBIS camera body.

As you can tell from the title, I’m eying the yet-to-be-released Fujifilm X-T6.

I have never known Fuji to be relatively so tight-lipped about the specs of a new, unreleased camera body. That said, here are the RUMOURS and specifications that I believe the XT6 will have when it is released in 2025…

Fujifilm X-T6 RUMOURED Specs

  • Sensor: 40.2 megapixel X-Trans CMOS5 HR APS-C sensor

  • Brains: X Processor 6 with AI intelligence

  • Hybrid Autofocus System with 500 Detection Points with AI subject Recognition (overkill for what I do)

  • 20 frames-per-second with a Mechanical Shutter, and 40 FPS using the electronic shutter with NO EVF (Electronic viewfinder) blackout

  • 6.2K Video at 30 FPS and 4K at 120 FPS - internal 10-bit 422 recording - F-log 2 profile | Enhanced heat management for longer recording times (maybe unlimited)

  • It has the same (ish) design but with improved, more comfortable holding for longer shoots.

  • Improved weather sealing for more extreme conditions

  • Back Screen - 3.2 inch tilting touch screen with a resolution of over 2 million dots

  • EVF (Electronic viewfinder) 3.69 million dot OLED panel with a refresh rate of 120 frames per second

  • IBIS (In-body image stabilisation) 5-axis stabilisation, rumoured to add up to 7 stops of shake reduction or 8 stops with select lenses

  • Duel UHS 2 SD Card slots

  • Wifi 6E & Bluetooth 5.2

  • New NPW235S battery

  • Pixel shift multishot mode for creating 160-megapixel images

  • Panorama mode capable of 8K stitching

  • MAYBE another camera dile for aspect ratios (pano, 16:9, 3:2, 1:1, etc.)

  • Release date: Mid-2025?

  • Cost: Body $2000 for £1620 (I would say this is a minimum price)

Muker, Keld and Gunnerside sign, Swaledale.

Now, take all the above with a pinch of salt; nothing is a fact, but the X-T6 has at least to keep up with the competition, and I’m sure it will strive to beat many similar cameras from other brands.

I will try to answer any comments below, but I am no gear expert. I would much sooner be out shooting than pawing over gear specs.
