I would like to say a really big THANKYOU to Lowepro UK for some of the best customer service I have ever known.
Like many of you, when it came time to upgrade my photography bag, I did loads of research, read many reviews and shopped around for the best price. I eventually found a bag that was perfect for my photography needs and the amount of gear I like to carry with me one any given photography outing. The bag I picked was a Lowepro Flipside 400 AW. The best price I could find for what was advertised as the genuine article was on Ebay. I received the bag back in March 2016 and have been using and enjoying it ever since, that was until last weekend! Last Saturday I was out photographing at the coast and noticed a big rip where the right hand waist strap attached to the bag, I was gutted, my pride and joy ripped! The next day I looked for the seller on Ebay, they had vanished!
As a last resort I wrote a nice email to Lowepro telling them what had happened to the bag and attaching a copy of my Ebay e-receipt and 3 pictures of where the bag had ripped. A lady called Karen from Lowepro got back to me very quickly saying it is very rare for such things to happen to this bag and for it to rip in this way is almost unknown. Karen then went on to explain that the price I had paid was some £20 cheaper than lowepro registered suppliers can sell the bag for and that it was probably a Chinese fake. Karen then went on to explain that I should only buy from bona fide and registered Lowepro suppliers. She said Lowepro are having real problems with Chinese fake bags, badged up and sold as the genuine article.
I was shocked when Karen went on to say that as a good will gesture Lowepro would send me a genuine bag out free of charge, which 2 days later arrived at my door!! Thank you Karen and thank you Lowepro, what a company and what excellent customer service!!
On comparing bags, mine was indeed a fake copy but a very good look alike so buyer beware!!
