Photographing in Scarborough again at the weekend

Same as other years, this year we gave my son Thomas the option, either have a party and invite your friends or have a long weekend at the seaside, no contest, the seaside won again, Thomas can dig for England once he gets on the beach, and this year he has a toy metal detector to try and find his Mum & Dad some treasure ๐Ÿ™‚

As always, while Thomas and his Mum are tucked up in bed I will be out in the darkness with the camera. I have photographed Scarborough to death now but there's always another shot to be had in different weather and the beach changes all the time, especially after a storm. Scarborough images tend to sell quite well as stock images also, especially to local guesthouses and friends from overseas.

I will be taking the laptop, it's a bit of a slow dinosaur but keeps me in touch on here and gives me my daily net fix ๐Ÿ™‚

I'll try and take more video this time to give you more of a feel for the place and time of day/night.

From Nikon D3200 to Nikon D7100 to Fujifilm X-T2, loved them all...

Last day of our Scarborough (Yorkshire) weekend at the seaside - listening to 'Sisters of Mercy' in the pub and typing this one on the phone (never good!)

Enjoying the weekend but photography wise white skies, mist and fog, I think I'm in a fog and mist weather 'groundhog day' at the moment but the weather is what it is, no point complaining ๐Ÿ™‚

I may have come back with a few nice shots but Instead, I set the camera to video and had a couple of days practising a combination of 4K @ 25 fps and 4k @ 120 fps (slow motion) footage. Practising being the word, I am not a video shooter at the moment so the learning curve is steep and much of the footage will end up in the recycle bin. When I'm in learning mode I like to have things hard, mist, drizzle, bad light, new manual focus only lens with no electronics, 4k crop factor and all. I will be sharing some of my video stuff on YouTube with the odd photograph and time-lapse video edited in, so the weekend will not be a total waste, photography wise but I will win no awards I assure you!

As always family first and no camera in my hand most of the day, I go out early, take my shots then come back for a day out with my family when they get up, after a sausage sandwich of course ๐Ÿ˜›

We go home tomorrow,ย  in my case more tired than when I arrived! State normal for me, such is photography, I try but the weather does not always play the game and often has other ideas, fingers crossed for a sunny and clear morning tomorrow, I have one more chance before home ๐Ÿ˜‰

I'm glad Thomas enjoyed his birthday! Looking at your shots and video, you definitely made the best of circumstances despite the weather. Really enjoyed watching and looking at them.

Thanks Chris, learned more with it being hard than I would if it had been easier condition, especially video, I have a lot to lean there but relish each oppertunity.

Thomas had a great weekend ๐Ÿ˜€
