Mild Autumn Weather for photography in Scarborough …

Scarborough North Yorkshire Tim Hill Photography

I am with the family at Scarborough, North Yorkshire this evening. The family and me arrived here on Friday even via Bridlington and the coastal road past Filey to avoid the crazy A64 in rush hour. The gamble worked and the trip here was a real pleasure. The sunset on Friday evening did not happen, well it did but not so you would notice. This was fine, we had been working all day and ready for a rest and something to eat in the pub next to where we were staying.

The sunset on Friday evening did not happen, well it did but not so you would notice. This was fine, we had been working all day and ready for a rest and something to eat in the pub next to our accommodation, the food and beer was really nice!

Strange bed and all, the next morning the alarm went off at 5:30 and I was glad to get up having hardly slept most of the night, which is never good but is what it is …

The next morning I went to a very dark area of Scarborough and photographed (mainly time-lapse and video) until it was light. The sunrise was unremarkable but I got a surprise when it came light and I had a homeless man sleeping 10 feet from where I had been photographing in the dark. I felt sorry for him until he moved on and left all his litter for me to pick up and dispose of.

This evening I have been shooting mainly time lapse and the sunset never really happened once again.

I have just set the camera up for a night time time-lapse but there will be a lot of light pollution, this is a first for me so learning all the way and this one might be binned when I look at it in the the Mac. I have a gone for a initial setup of 16mm – 5 seconds – f/4 – ISO 800 with a daylight light balance, lets see how things go …
